Trenton Doyle Hancock, Texas Artist of the Year

"This exhibition and catalogue trace the evolution of Trenton Doyle Hancock during the years he has lived and worked in Texas. His transformation as an artist goes beyond inviting the viewer to bear witness to his unfolding technique, subject matter and artistry. Trenton seeks to, as he shared in our most recent conversation, 'navigate and reconcile the histories that the work grows out of.' Through the lens of the Mound's eye, he is building us a world, his world, as he sees it using the extraordinary visual vocabulary he spent over two decades developing."
