Daniel Gordon states, "I set out to make a summer still life with succulents and fruit inspired by a mixture of references to fauvist painting, iconic patterns, and 1980’s California. Working in the space of a window is actually extremely similar to building a set for the camera in that the viewer sees the work from one perspective, so my process adapted naturally for this project. The process in my studio working on the window installation was typical of my practice—in fact, it was almost identical. I’m grateful to Hermès for giving me the creative freedom to work unencumbered."
