Cammie Staros: Pompeii

Nazarian / Curcio is pleased to present Pompeii, a new installation of free-standing and wall-based sculptures by Los Angeles–based artist Cammie Staros, marking her fourth exhibition with the gallery.

In Pompeii, Staros invokes the ancient city’s catastrophic destruction as a lens to consider contemporary crises. Drawing on classical craft and archaeological imagery, the works meditate on collapse and preservation, reframing the precariousness of empire amid climate change and political unrest.Through this dialogue between antiquity and the present, Staros creates sculptures that dissolve historical divides to consider how past narratives of ruin and endurance resonate within our own precarious moment.
